Journal Entry: 2026/01/19 Location: Ar's Station (Ironheart) / Gorean Campus of Lara / Ar Ruins Mood/Title: The Mind of the City and Desolate Melodies
Today I addressed the "mind" of Gorean civilization: The Law. In my third lecture at the Gorean Campus, I spoke to Bea, Myriam, and Janus about the distinction between Common Law—the ancient, biological bedrock of Gor—and City Decrees. We explored the discipline of the "Tal" greeting and the sacred contract of Salt. I emphasized that civilization is a daily choice: to say "Tal" instead of grabbing, to respect hospitality instead of poisoning the cup. Without law and custom, we are merely animals wearing silk.
Later, the expedition from Ar’s Station continued its weary trek through the ruins of Ar. The atmosphere was thick with smoke and ash, sparking another debate about the practicality of veils in such conditions. Luciana and Torrid chose to remove theirs to breathe, while I remained steadfast in mine, though I appreciated their concern. The gloom was briefly lifted by the musician Landers, who played a soothing tune on his Kalika amidst the carnage. Even the hardened warriors seemed to find a moment of peace, though tensions flared briefly when a soldier chided the Innkeeper for using a warrior’s salute sarcastically. It is a grim journey, but these moments of shared music and debate remind us why we are searching for the Home Stone.
To Do:
Finalize the transcript for today's "Laws and Customs" lecture for those who missed it.
Check in with Myriam regarding her request for notes from the first two weeks of the series.
Organize the "Bea Lael picture in red" and the "BTB Gorean Role play" documents from Caroline into my personal files.
Monitor the expedition's progress; the thick smoke near the ruins is becoming a health hazard for the Free Women.
