Mood/Title: A Sleen for Christmas & Canon Controversies
It was a surprisingly active Christmas in the city. I met a lovely new scribe named Kathani Mondrich; Masujiro and I helped her find the Inn, and I truly hope she decides to stay, as we could use more scribes. I also finally met the physicians, Samuel and Luciana. They seem like a wonderful couple, though Luciana shared a rather shocking story about a warrior behaving dishonorably with a slave right in the open. It reminds me why we need good leadership here.
The wildest part of the day was meeting "Deft," a massive tamed sleen that came sniffing around while Masujiro was showing me the jail cells. The beast was huge—Masujiro says he’s still growing! He slobbered all over my festive red dress, which was a disaster, but Masujiro taught me some hand signals to make him sit and lie down. We even took him hunting in the woods. The beast caught a tarsk and actually shared the kill with me. I had to eat a piece of meat to be accepted as "pack." It was messy, but I think I made a new friend.
Later, Masujiro took me on a trip to "Edo," a Japanese-themed retreat. We met Gyre there, and the place was beautiful—especially the theater with the fish and the hot springs.
However, the night ended on a bit of a tense note. Masujiro and Gyre got into a heated debate about whether "Tarn Tunnels" under Ar are canon in the books. Gyre used a search engine to prove they aren't, while Masujiro insisted they are in Book 1. He even sent me the book chapters to prove his point before going to sleep frustrated.
To Do:
Get my blue dress cleaned immediately (sleen slobber is hard to get out).
Read the chapters Masujiro sent me to see who is right about the Tarn Tunnels.
Check on Kathani at the Inn to see if she needs anything else.
Locate the olive tree near where Samuel and Luciana live to pay them a visit.
