The Governor's Scribe & Rams-berry Muffins - January 3

Mood/Title: The Governor's Scribe & Rams-berry Muffins

It has been a day of new titles and sweet moments. The morning began early with Rask joining me for blackwine. He is attentive in ways I am quickly growing fond of—bringing me fresh "rams-berry" muffins and reporting on his rounds. He found a broken lock on a storeroom and suspects assassins; it eases my mind knowing he is watching over the city and me. We spoke of future things, perhaps a double recliner one day, and he promised to teach me the game of Zar, though our first attempt by the baths was thwarted by a stubborn game board.

My family kept me busy as well. Caroline and Catherine visited; I signed caste registration papers and managed to find a map of Besniit for Catherine. We also welcomed a new scribe to the city, Lady Cangmi. It is good to see the Caste growing, and Caroline is taking charge of the paperwork beautifully.

The most significant shift happened this evening during a meeting with my son, Asher. We discussed my position and the laws regarding women in power. To ensure my authority is unquestionable and within the codes, we decided to retire the title of "Magistrate." I am now officially the Governor's Scribe. Asher gave me the Governor's Seal to use. It feels like the right path—a position of influence and order, protected by the Governor himself.

To Do:

• Update my office signage and papers to reflect the new title: "Governor's Scribe."

• Reschedule the Zar lesson with Rask (hopefully with a working board).

• Coordinate with Caroline and Sphere regarding the health checks and registration for new citizens.

• Review the lesson plan for Monday’s class.
