Rebuilding the Academy's Soul - March 6

 Journal Entry: March 6, 2026

Location: Ar's Station

Title: Rebuilding the Academy's Soul

The Academy felt more like home today with the return of Shania Shiras. I was deeply concerned when she vanished and removed her belongings, but she explained that she simply needed a breather and some travel to gain perspective. We spent a good portion of the afternoon together in the classroom, moving furniture and re-arranging the space. I am so relieved to have her back; the school felt plain without her presence and her beautiful Tia tree. We even restored her bulletin board and added a floating shelf to better display our growing collection of materials.

Amidst the nesting, I continued to struggle with the Academy Library and Files. Currently, they seem to only function correctly for me, which is a significant hurdle for a public center of learning. I’ve been testing the scripts and trying to organize the 4,420 items into a searchable format. It is a tedious process of labeling and indexing, but essential. I want this library to be the premier archive for Ar's Station, and proper categorization is the only way to ensure the students can actually find the scrolls they need.

In the morning, I had a brief meeting with Carola Titus. She had rushed off yesterday and forgotten to pick up the homework assignment from our "Warriors and Warfare" lecture. I provided her with the details and encouraged her to complete it, regardless of whether she seeks a formal certificate. I also spent time updating the XANBoard with the expanded March and April schedule, including the upcoming 201 series on the Imperial Experiment and Marlenus of Ar.

Class Summary: Roleplay Workshop Part 1 (Attended at Gorean Campus)

  • Character Development: Master Nero led a deep dive into character arcs and goals. He emphasized that goals create direction and prevent a character from becoming stagnant or "background noise."

  • Maturity in RP: We discussed handling OOC disagreements with maturity. The consensus was to keep conflicts IC whenever possible and to step away from the keys if tempers flare to avoid public drama.

  • Romantic Etiquette: A significant portion of the workshop focused on romantic and erotic roleplay. The core takeaway was "Slow Burn." Master Nero cautioned against instant claiming and emotional dependency in OOC, stressing that IC intensity does not entitle one to OOC access.

  • Godmodding in ERP: We had a frank discussion about "Godmodding" during sexual scenes. It is considered a violation to emote another person's physical or emotional response without their consent. The workshop participants agreed that ending a scene is preferable to enduring a lack of agency.

To Do:

  • Finalize the categorization of the 4,400+ library notecards to fix public access issues.

  • Review the Council Meeting Agenda provided by Asher for tomorrow’s session.

  • Draft the "Ask the Teacher Anything" session plan for Saturday afternoon.

  • Buy more decorative items for the Academy to replace what was lost during the recent reshuffling.
