Journal Entry: December 10, 2025
Location: City of Lara / Hidden Falls Status: Productive and Social
The day began early with a scribe meeting in Lara, and it ended quietly back home in the North. It feels like my life is finally finding a rhythm between these two places.
The Scribe Meeting in Lara I attended a formal meeting at the City of Lara, led by Armand Wayfarer (Head Scribe) and attended by Abraham Jacobson (Chancellor) and others like Trygg Tyran. The meeting focused heavily on the upcoming En'Kara Fair in March 2026. Trygg outlined the schedule:
March 9-12: Road to the Fair
March 13-22: The Fair proper
March 17: Scribe Day (which is when I should plan any special events).
They discussed setting up a pavilion at the college for formal training, potentially involving the Physicians Caste as well. Armand also mentioned some shuffling in the local caste roles—the Prosecutor has left, and the Librarian is missing, leaving vacancies. It sounds like a city in transition, much like me.
I updated them on my situation—leaving Teletus and Var-Kor due to leadership issues and settling in Ar's Station (Hidden Falls). They were supportive. Abraham even asked if I was taking notes, which of course I was. Once a scribe, always a scribe.
A Financial Surprise While in Lara, I ran into Alaric Tengdur, the slaver from Teletus. He surprised me by paying 5 silver for Red (the slave who ran off). I had only paid 2 silver and 10 copper for her originally, so making a profit on a runaway slave was an unexpected delight. He mentioned he might return to explore more later. It closes the chapter on Red nicely—and profitably.
Tea and Trouble with Caroline Later, I met Caroline Gallius and her sister Catherine (Aurora) for tea in Lara. Caroline attempted to summon a slave to serve us, but the only one available was a terrified boy named Hanno. He was completely untrained and shaking with fear. It was painful to watch. Catherine actually bet a gold coin he would mess up, but he managed to pour the tea (and later serve cake) without disaster.
Caroline suggested I buy him to train him properly, but I declined. I need a slave who is already somewhat functional, not a project that shakes when I look at him.
Caroline also dropped some news: Vulcan, the Ubar of Var-Kor, is apparently banned from Ironheart/Lara for trying to "poach" scribes. The politics of these cities never cease to amaze me.
A Quiet Evening I ended the day back in Hidden Falls, working on my lesson plans for the upcoming class in January ("Introduction to Gorean Civilization"). The solitude of the North is a stark contrast to the bustle of Lara, but I appreciate it. I spent some time organizing my inventory (again) and just enjoying the view from my new office window.
I feel like I have a foot in two worlds now: the professional, structured world of the Scribes in Lara, and the rugged, familial world of the Silver Blades in the North. It’s a balance I think I can maintain.
To Do:
Review the En'Kara registration documents Trygg sent.
Finalize the lesson plan for Week 1 of the Lara class.
Keep an eye out for a female slave who doesn't shake like a leaf.
