Today was a mix of quiet reflection and new discoveries.
1. The Great Hall and Household Updates I spent some time with Father (Wind) in the new Great Hall. It truly is magnificent—huge timber beams, roaring fires, and a rugged, Northern feel that is slowly growing on me. We discussed the layout, and he suggested I could have a room upstairs or keep my separate house. For now, I like having my own space, but the warmth of the hall is tempting.
We also discussed the Red situation again. It’s still a sore spot. Wind is adamant that she was an alt using AI to generate her posts, and frankly, the evidence is overwhelming. She hasn't been online, likely knowing she's been caught. It’s disappointing, but I’m moving on.
2. A Visit to Ironheart Later, I took a trip to Ironheart with Caroline Gallius. She gave me a wonderful tour of the sim. It’s a beautifully constructed place, very authentic to the lore, with a distinct warrior zone built for raids, a high council building, and lovely living areas.
Caroline introduced me to the layout—the market square, the bathhouses, the scribe apartments. It feels like a community that is trying to build something lasting, "ground zero" as she put it. It was refreshing to see her passion for it. We talked about the possibility of me teaching there, perhaps not living there but visiting as a guest lecturer. It’s an appealing thought.
3. Politics and Gossip Caroline dropped a bit of a bombshell: Vulcan, the Ubar of Var-Kor, is banned from Ironheart. Apparently, he was caught trying to "poach" a scribe from their land while visiting. It’s just another layer of the complex politics between these cities.
4. A Strange Encounter Back in Var-Kor, I ran into a man named Đ'arrius who was chasing a "panther girl" through the city streets. He claimed she was disguised as a free woman but carrying weapons. It was a bizarre interaction—he seemed almost amused by my confusion. I’m still not entirely sure what to make of it, but it’s a reminder that even in a "safe" city, things can get chaotic quickly.
5. Ending the Day I ended the evening quietly, just observing the life of the city. I saw Selennor trying to gamble his way into some coin with Rist, and Drusus tending to Angelica. It’s nice to just watch sometimes, to see the stories of others unfolding around me without being in the center of the storm.
I feel settled. No slaves, no immediate crises, just my work and my family. It’s a good place to be.
Action Items:
