Mood/Title: Quiet Mornings and Evolving Dynamics
The day unfolded with a calm that is becoming a familiar rhythm here at the Station. I spent the early hours in the Academy, my favorite place in the morning, enjoying a cup of blackwine. The newly arranged room, complete with stools for the Free and cushions for the slaves, feels far more structured now. I even had a brief visit from Odette Atheria. She admired the setup but brought some unsettling news—she plans to host a "slave event" on Sunday afternoons. She framed it as a way to bring more people to the city, but it felt pointedly scheduled to conflict with my teaching times. I assured her it was not a problem, as my Sunday classes are later in the day, but her underlying tone of competition was unmistakable.
Our conversation also touched upon the slave, Kash. Odette noticed his diligent work and inquired about his ownership and background. Given his excellent service cleaning the Academy, I plan to ask Lady Jacquie if he might also assist in cleaning Odette’s office. I want to ensure the boy remains useful and out of trouble, particularly given his rather servile nature which some in the city find off-putting.
Later, Kash and I spoke privately. He expressed his confusion and anxiety regarding his place here, feeling that his overly formal, "broken" style of service is unappreciated and perhaps even un-Gorean to some. I did my best to reassure him. He is a good boy, and I told him to seek me out whenever he logs on if his Mistress is away. I appreciate his company and his quiet dedication to his tasks.
To Do:
Contact Lady Jacquie to formally request Kash's services for cleaning Odette's office.
Monitor the Academy calendar to ensure no overlaps with Odette's new Sunday events.
Begin organizing materials for the 200-level "Nature of the Ubarate" class starting next week.
