Expanding the Academy & Seeking a Shadow - March 1

 Journal Entry: March 1, 2026

Location: Ar's Station

Mood/Title: Expanding the Academy & Seeking a Shadow

The morning began with a mix of administrative updates and a touch of city intrigue. I spent time finalizing the Station Academy's calendar for the coming months, reaching as far as April. It is heartening to see the schedule so full; between my 101 and 200 level courses and the various specialty classes offered by others, the Academy is truly becoming the hub of learning I envisioned. I also received the agenda for the upcoming Council meeting on the 7th from Asher, which I will need to review carefully.

In the afternoon, I held an "Open Topic Discussion" at the Academy. While only a few attended, including Lady Jacquie and the slave girl Tayir, the conversation was deeply insightful. We discussed the current state of Ar's Station, noting the scarcity of visible warriors and the heavy presence of merchants. Jacquie and I also spoke about the "Canoe Route" and whether the Station should seek a more prominent place upon it. Tayir provided a unique perspective, mentioning that she often helps in the local sweet shop. I was surprised to learn we had one and made a note to visit more frequently to support our local merchants.

The conversation eventually turned to a more personal matter. I informed Lady Jacquie that I am in the market for a well-trained Gorean slave girl, preferably one who can read to assist with my Scribe duties and Academy management. She very kindly offered to have her boy, Kash, continue his cleaning duties at the school and even assist me personally when she is away on travel. Kash seems relieved to be of use, though he still carries a great deal of anxiety about his "servile" nature. I reminded him that directness and honesty are what I value.

To Do:

  • Review the Council Meeting agenda for March 7th.

  • Follow up with Domi regarding the search for a suitable slave girl with reading and writing skills.

  • Visit the sweet shop next to the bakery to speak with the shopkeeper about posting their hours.

  • Organize the various handouts and helper items for the Academy, as suggested by Odette.
