Mood/Title: Seeking Balance in the Academy
Today was a day of managing both the academic schedule and the delicate social dynamics within Ar's Station. I spent the morning at the Academy organizing my Level 200 materials and ensuring the new XANBoard was properly synced for the month. I had a brief visit from Leonardo, who was looking for logs from previous Ubarate classes; I assisted him with access and made a mental note that the library's indexing still needs a great deal of work to be truly user-friendly.
I also spent time in conversation with Lady Jacquie regarding the slave boy, Kash. I expressed my concern about his interactions with Odette and his general anxiety about his servile style. Jacquie was very understanding and gave her permission for him to continue assisting me, which I appreciate. He truly is a diligent worker and his efforts in keeping the classroom clean have been exemplary. I later spoke with Domi about my ongoing search for a well-trained, literate slave girl to assist with my Scribe duties, and she assured me she would keep a sharp eye out for a suitable specimen.
The afternoon was dedicated to an "Open Topic Discussion" at the Station Academy. While the turnout was small, the dialogue was meaningful. We touched upon the visibility of warriors in the city and the nuances of social interactions between the castes. Lady Jacquie and I also discussed the potential benefits of the "Canoe Route" for the Station's commerce. It is my hope that these open sessions will eventually draw more of the city's leaders into active participation.
Class Summary: Open Topic Discussion (Station Academy)
Warrior Visibility: We discussed the current lack of visible Scarlet Caste presence in the city streets and the impact this has on the feeling of security and the city's overall atmosphere.
City Commerce: Explored the potential of the "Canoe Route" as a means to increase trade and connectivity for Ar's Station.
Merchant Dynamics: Noted that the city is currently merchant-heavy and discussed how to better integrate shopkeepers into the city's active roleplay by establishing consistent business hours.
Social Protocol: Addressed the importance of greetings like the "Tal" and the clarity provided by established social hierarchies in maintaining order.
To Do:
Continue refining notecard titles in the Station Academy Library (currently at 4,420 items).
Follow up with Drusus regarding the proposal to have shopkeepers post active hours.
Prepare for the upcoming 101 class on "Warriors and Warfare" at the Academy.
Review the Council Meeting agenda one more time before the session on the 7th.
